Symptoms can be highly varied, but typically there is a significant loss of function and cosmetic appearance of the facial region. Though facial trauma is largely treatable and not always life threatening, there may be several complications from the trauma that occurred, most notably in the function of the airway. It is imperative for these complications to be treated in order for the patient to recover safely prior to changes that are made for aesthetic purposes. Treatment time may change drastically depending on the severity and complexity of the trauma.
