While the majority of root canals are effective, there are situations when they aren’t enough to eradicate the infection. When that is the case you may need to get an apicoectomy done, if the infection from a dead nerve inside a tooth extends beyond the tooth root and into the surrounding bone.
During this procedure Dr. Hamilton-Hall removes the affected area of the tooth’s root, cleans the bone infection from the tooth and surrounding bone, fills the root to prevent future infections, and, if indicated, grafts cadaver bone into the bone defect.
